The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has hailed Governor Rauf Aregbesola for his administration’s provision of 22 Armoured Personnel Carriers for the state.

The commendation came on the heels of a foiled armed robbery attack by the Osun State police command in Ikirun last Friday.

Robbers attacked three banks in Ikirun at about 3:45pm but a rapid response from the police thwarted the attack.

A statement by the ruling party’s director of publicity, Mr. Kunle Oyatomi, on Monday, said the provision of patrol vans and 22 APCs for security agencies in the state was yielding dividends.

Oyatomi said, “We hereby commend the foresightedness of Governor Rauf Aregbesola in prioritising security. Osun remains one of the most secure states in the country today as a result of the governor’s initiative.

“It will be recalled that when Aregbesola, way back in 2013, bought several patrol vans and distributed them to our security agencies, and reinforced those vans in 2014 with 22 APC’s for the state police command, the opposition party viciously critised him.

“But the event of last weekend, not only confirmed the superiority of Aregbesola’s sound logic to his critics’ shortsighted opinions, it made the state proud that we have a governor who thinks far ahead of his critics and those whose only purpose in government is to loot.”

Four robbery suspects, two policemen and two bankers were killed in the robbery attack.

Also, four robbery suspects were arrested by the police even as the sum of N7,486,300 was recovered from the robbers.

Commending the police for confronting the robbers, the APC urged members of the public to furnish security agents with information on suspicious movements.
