Says Sylva has connections in Abuja
Yesterday’s grand campaign of the APC in Yenagoa was an opportunity for two former buddies to reconcile. Governor Adams Oshiomhole who led the panel that conducted the initial governorship primary had at the end of the exercise exchanged hot words with the eventual nominee, Timipere Sylva, describing him in ungubernatorial words.
But yesterday the brickbats between the two men that took place just three months ago was like an issue that happened centuries ago. It was all buried in the past.
Oshiomhole and Sylva were rather focused on their common enemy. The Edo State governor said Bayelsans cannot afford another 16 years of suffering under the umbrella (the insignia of the PDP).
He said: ‘’you have demonstrated character and conviction about the message of change. We must ask ourselves, why change? For 16 years you have laboured under the umbrella. You know that this state is unarguably the most resourceful, but for 16 years it has been business as usual.
“You must refuse to remain the fish in the river but has no water to drink. With Sylva, underdevelopment of the state will be solved. He will bring change to Bayelsa.
‘’So, Sylva is here, he has worked for you, you know him, he knows you, he has done his apprenticeship and so you can compare today. I believe that all of us in the APC are unanimous that with Sylva on the driver’s seat, Bayelsa will change for the better. Sylva has connections in Abuja, he will use it to bring development to Bayelsa. The resources are here. I don’t like being the only South South governor in APC, so vote for Sylva. On Saturday, sacrifice that day and equip yourselves with PVCs so you can vote for change.”
