Council chairmen to go in march

Council Chairmen in the 18 local government areas of Edo state should prepare their handing over notes next month, February 2016, as their constitutional tenure expires in march 2016, it emerged on Friday.

Already, about 4 of the elected officers have been suspended but the cosmopolitan Oredo Osaro Obaze is seeking justice in court over his removal while others may have their fate sealed from the benefits of the office.

Reports of pressure on the State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole to dissolve the councils and install a transition system over alleged double loyalty have been turned down by the Governor, it was learnt.

Reports from an enlarged party meeting hosted by the State Governor recently however gave credence to the rumours making the rounds that lobbyists may have intensified efforts to make the list or have their cronies install in march when the elected council chairmen’s tenure expires.
