As the Edo governorship election draws near, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in the state, Arc. Ilenre Austin Emuan, yesterday said Chieftains of his party across the three senatorial districts in the State had endorsed his candidature for the governorship of the State.
Emuan who spoke to journalists yesterday in Abuja, said he has started making moves to bring international investors to Edo State for investment survey if he becomes the next governor of the state. He added that his administration will grow the economy and spur all round industrialization by democratizing investment process; modernizing the state’s infrastructures; and tapping the intellectual and creative minds of Edo people.
He said if voted as governor, there are very rich endowments which investors will utilize to create jobs for the unemployed youths in the state. The aspirant explained that his short and medium objectives have been carefully worked out via phase by phase policies, projects and programmes vis-à-vis Nigeria’s current political-economic reality.
“Also geared towards job creation, I want us to go back to agriculture. My top priority is that we key into a programme: “Edo Beyond Oil”. What I mean in effect is that, we shall move beyond oil. After all, before the discovery of oil, we were living very well on agricultural production. I want us to take our mind away from the lazy culture of waiting for derivation fund to fund every activity and go back to what we know best which is agriculture,” Emuan stated.
In an Easter message to the people, he wishes to rejoice and celebrate with the good people of Edo State on the victory of our Lord Jesus Christ over his death. This period of Easter brings one promising moment for sober reflection and a candid re-appraisal of our roles in shaping the history of our people and that of the world. It is especially a time to deeply assess our contributions in the footsteps of Jesus Christ and how it has positively impacted our world with a view to changing the destinies of fellowmen and re-order society for more positive values by placing it on a prosperous and progressive path.
