The member representing Etsako federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr Philip Shuaibu, has confirmed that a gubernatorial aspirant and Edo Works Commissioner, Barrister Osarodion Ogie has abandoned his ambition to contest the 2016 polls.

Ogie and Shaibu would collapse their political structures for the realisation of Oshiomhole’s preferred  aspirant, Mr. Godwin Obaseki.

Shaibu is widely rumoured as the Oshiomhole’s anointed running mate to Obaseki while Ogie would be the Secretary to the State Government, the slots have been shared, it was learnt.

According to Shaibu, “My brother, Osarodion Ogie and I will use our structures to work for Obaseki because we will not allow anybody to rubbish our governor.”

Shaibu said they are going to fight so as not to allow detractors rubbish Oshiomhole.

Besides, he denied claims that he was at war with the governor over the Governor’s preference for Mr Godwin Obaseki as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

He said at a well-attended meeting of members of his constituency, weekend: “I am on the same page with my father, the governor, on the choice of Obaseki.

Shuiabu, who spoke at Jattu, Etsako West Local Government Area of the state, when he hosted all the APC leaders from the area, said: “I am with him in this project. I can never differ with my father (Oshiomhole) in this project.”

“Oshiomhole is for Obaseki and I am with him in this project. I am sorry to disappoint those praying for the separation of father and son.

“I and Osarodion Ogie are already working at collapsing our political structure to support Obaseki. We have started doing that in Benin, and I have already met with my people in Edo Central to that effect.

“We will be doing same in Edo North. By His grace, we will not allow the governor to be rubbished by anybody. We will fight those who are planning to do that.

“We are going to fight because the governor has done a lot for the people of the state and since he sees Obaseki as the man who will build on the foundation that he has laid, we will support him in that regard,” he said.
