The mother of Hon. Kabiru Adjoto was on Thursday night kidnapped. She, however, outmaneuvered the gunmen home, it was learnt.

Adjoto is the member representing Akoko-Edo North constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly.

His mother was kidnapped in the wee hours of Thursday in Ikakumo community, Akoko Edo Local Government Area.

For four hours, guns boomed unstopped, as the entire agrarian community was held hostage by men suspected to be Fulani cattle rustlers who were said to be armed with sophisticated assort riffles including AK 47 among others.

Eyewitness account say the gunmen searched the abode of the parliamentarian’s mother and whisked her away. She was not alone, a young lad, who lives with her was also not too lucky. His whereabouts is yet to be ascertained.

“The siege on the community lasted for 4 hours”, a source said.

Police from Ibillo Division, a neighboring community have since taken over the entire Ikakuko community. Adjoto’s mother who was kidnapped by the armed men escaped miraculously as she emerged from the bush and found herself at home yesterday (Friday) morning.

Adjoto said, “My mother was tortured and beaten. They took her and the young boy away. They crossed river Ose, the boundary demarcating Edo from Ondo state. But, my mother escaped and returned home this morning and narrated her ordeal”, he explained.
