Former Governor of Bayelsa State, Dieprieye Alamaseiyagha, has urged Edo people to support outgoing Senator Ehighie Uzamere for the 2016 governorship race in the state.

Uzamere represents Edo South Senatorial district and he is the first senator from the district to serve eight years.

Alamaseiyagha, who gave a toast at Uzamere’s 60th birthday celebration, said Edo people should make the Senator the governor of the state.

The ex- governor described Uzamere as a man that loves his people dearly.

He said, “He should be governor of Edo State. Edo South has the vote. You can make it happen.”

Uzamere on his part said he rejected the automatic ticket offered to him by the Peoples Democratic Party because he wanted others to grow especially as the Edo South senator-elect, Matthew Urhoghide, has been contesting for the past 23 years.

The outgoing Senator said he would take three months rest before determining his political future.

He, however, pledged to work for the success of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

“I have just finish eight years in the Senate and I want to rest for three months. My eight years at the Senate was turbulent. There were more challenges in the seventh senate because there was a lot of decamping and cross-carpeting that made the leadership sit very tight.”

“Nigerians should support Buhari. Politics is over now. I will join hands with Buhari to offer my contributions. God will order my next move. I have escaped assassination four times.”
