Benin- Edo State Petroleum Monitoring Committee is to commence
‘Operations Declare Your Metres’ across the filling stations in the State to control sales of fuel price according to the Federal Government approved pump price.
The Chairman of the committee, Mr. Lord Osunde stated this while addressing journalists in Benin City, the Edo State capital.
Mr. Osunde said the operation became necessary due to the incessant reports coming to the committee from members of the public and confirmed by the committee that more than seventy-five percent of metres of filling stations in the state were not working.
“We are going into operation declare your metre, because we know that 75% of filling stations in Benin have bad metres. We have put machinery in place to ensure this enforcement. I am using this medium to inform the owners of these filling stations to rectify such.
Failure to do that will attract serious sanctions.’’
Mr. Osunde called on both major and independent marketers to rectify their pumps to avoid embarrassment as the committee would not spare anybody found wanting of such act.
