The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday re-arrested former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOSF), Mr. Steve Oronsaye, over allegations of corruption and obtaining money by false pretence.
Although THISDAY could not officially confirm Oransaye’s arrest, a reliable source said the HOSF was taken into custody on Tuesday evening and may be arraigned soon.
Oronsaye is already being prosecuted by the EFCC on 24 counts of money laundering before a Federal High Court, Abuja, alleged to have abused his position as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Financial Action Task Force and obtained a sum of N240 million from the Central Bank of Nigeria in the guise of assistance to the committee without the knowledge of other committee members and proceeded to convert the said sum to his personal use.
The source hinted that EFCC operatives in charge of the investigation were concluding arrangements to file charges against him.
Oronsaye is currently facing charges bordering on corruption at the Federal Capital Territory High Court.
