As hope of celebrating this year Christmas with fanfare dim across the country owing to dwindling oil revenue, shortfall in monthly federal allocation and uncertainties in the global oil price, Edo state Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole says workers in the state government employment should expect their December salaries before 25th of this month.
These assurances from the Governor is not based on assumptions or probability as in economics; “everything being equal”, Oshiomhole is cock-sure he will pay salaries oil or no oil, allocation or no allocation.
Unlike other state workers who might have to go into the yuletide hungry, dejected and hopeless, confident-driven Oshiomhole said he will do whatever needed to be done to ensure Edo state government workers enjoy this year Christmas to the fullest because plans have been concluded to pay salaries before Christmas.
The Governor made these sweet-smelling words during his presentation of the 2016 budget at the state House of Assembly on Monday.
Not many heard him well but www.johnmayaki.com heard him loud and clear.
“If oil sells for zero dollars today, I will pay salaries”, Oshiomhole shrieked.
Not done yet, he continued, “allocation or no allocation, I will pay December salaries before Christmas”, the workers’ Governor vowed.
“I am determined that this government will finish well and stronger than we started. We will continue on the path we started and improve on it.
“If oil drops to zero dollars, this state will survive. We will improve on the tax to raise revenue to deliver on infrastructure and public service.
“Edo state workers will earn their salaries before Christmas, even if federal allocation meeting hasn’t held before then”, he assured while making analysis of his 2016 budget presentation.
Hear Oshiomhole: “Governance is not a Tea-Party”.
It would be recalled that Edo state Government is up-to-date in the payment of its workers’ salaries, a feat that is fast becoming a monthly tradition.
