Group urges Buhari to revive acquisition centres

The National Youth Reform Group has called on the incoming administration of Muhammadu Buhari to revive and equip the various skills and acquisition centres in the country.

It also urged the incoming administration to create a platform to accommodate youths in policy, decision making, and governance to further enhance their voice on issues that borders on their welfare.

Chairman, NYRG, Charles Olufemi Folayan, who said these during a press conference in Abuja called on the incoming government to begin a full scale review and implementation of the National Youth Policy Document.

He said: “There is no better time than now for the youths to be strategically positioned having taken into consideration the yearnings of majority of Nigerian youths to have a more reliable and responsive government.

“The Federal government should revive and equip all federal government youths skills and acquisition centres in the country to start serious skills development program.

“The government should facilitate the immediate transfer of the supervision of SURE –P and YOUWIN employment program to the youth oriented people, departments and ministries across the six geopolitical zones with full monitoring of all existing youth organization to oversee the process of implementation at the grass root level.”

He called on governments at all levels to demonstrate strong willingness in their support for youth programmes that will enhance youth capacity and development.
