The member representing Akoko South East/South West in the House of Representatives, Kolawole Babatunde, has denied the allegation that he sponsored an attack on an All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant, Segun Abraham.
Abraham was attacked during his visitation to Iwaro-Oka in Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
He accused Babatunde and Senator Ajayi Boroffice of disrupting his meeting and destroying three of his political campaign buses.
But the lawmaker said he would never encourage thuggery, adding that those behind the attack were community thugs who demand for money from politicians who visit their community.
He said: “I was told that when he got to Iwaro-Oka, the meeting was allowed to hold but when he was leaving those guys demanded for money since they knew that he had donated N5million to St Catherine Hospital in the same community but in the process of demanding for money violence erupted.
“I have never promoted thugs even when I was contesting I never attacked my opponents.”
