It repented Government to withdraw a document it earlier announced? Yes. Why not.
Even the now controversial “iconoclastic” statement on the transit of the most iconic Oba, was not worth the bellyache suffered by those who fell for it subjected themselves. Though, it sincerely repented government.
I am told it’s not novel in government. It’s from creation. It’s natural and that without error, there is no perfection.
What about this: Did God repent? Does God make mistakes? No. To err is human. Divine is God.
But, it repented God and the Holy writ also says:
“And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart”.
What went wrong? Moreso as this is coming just after confirming that all the things He made on earth was good.
The above scenario was in the garden of Eden when Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit.
After this account, there was another. During the Noah’s Ark, when God destroyed the earth with flood.
“And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.”
Again, what about this: “And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.”
He is a perfect and All-knowing God. Never known to errors or mistakes. He can make and also unmake. I cannot query his actions either.
But for me, and on the part of government, its an act of courage to accept mistakes. Isn’t it?
