The residents of Kwadaru Village in the Kubau Local Government Area of Kaduna State on TuesdayWednesday set ablaze and kill a kidnapper.
Other members of the gang were said to have escaped into a forest in the area.
Kwadaru is a two-hour drive to the state capital.
One of our correspondents gathered that in recent times, the village had been besieged by kidnappers, forcing parents not to be able to send their children on errands in the village.
It was learnt that the distressed villagers after foiling an attempt to kidnap a resident of the community on Tuesday, pounced on the abductors and managed to apprehend one of them, whom they set on fire, while other members of the gang fled.
“Angry residents burnt the suspected kidnapper before the security operatives arrived in the area,” a villager, who craved anonymity, said.
Another villager, Mohammed Tanko, added, “The kidnappers came to the village, armed with weapons on Monday night and started shooting, wanting to kidnap some women in a house.
“The people mobilised against them and the whole village repelled them; in the process, they captured one of them and killed him. They also set him ablaze. The others escaped.
“The security agencies came to the village and started trailing the escapees to the forest.”
In a similar development, the Anti-Kidnapping Squad of the state rescued four abducted girls and arrested a notorious kidnapper in the state.

“The security squad that was detailed to follow-up, came under fire from the kidnappers, but the squad succeeded in freeing the girls,” he said.
Also, a notorious kidnapper, one Abdullahi Ali, was arrested.
