Kidnapped PDP chieftain freed in Abia


Aba—A chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Abia State, Chief Israel Mark, has been freed by his abductors four days after he was kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Aba.

Vanguard gathered that Mark, popularly known as I. C. Mark, was abducted by gunmen in his house at Ozumba Street, Umungasi, Aba, Monday last week at about 10p.m.

An associate of the family, who declined to have his name in print, told Vanguard that the kidnappers abandoned Mark at Osisioma Ngwa area after they threatened to kill him several times.

The family associate could not confirm if any ransom was paid.

Contacted, Police Public Relations Officer, Abia State Command, Onyeke Ezekiel, said he was not aware of the incident and promised to get back to Vanguard, but had not done so at press time.
