The now famously politically-rich, literary and feature journalist, Mr. John Mayaki’s friends are pondering an unusual birthday gift for him – the indefatigable Executive Director, Media and Public Affairs to Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

To help commemorate his 40th birthday, Mayaki’s friends plan to host him in Pennsylvania, Los Angeles in California, Manhattan in New York, Benin City in Edo State and Igarra in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area but he since turned down the idea saying, “friends should join me to campaign for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Candidate, Mr. Godwin Obaseki and his running mate, Hon. Philip Shaibu for continuity and consolidation of the Adams Oshiomhole’s 8-years legacies in the state – that is the greatest challenge of the moment”, he said.

“I cannot wrap this idea by my friends”, Mayaki said in appreciation. “I would prefer a lunch with my friends during the 3rd edition of “The Roundtable Discussion with Mayaki’s Friends”, he apologetically unwraps the idea.

The proposed lecture with title: Continuity for Consolidation is scheduled to take place in Benin City, Monday, 5thof September 2016, at the Bishop Kelly Pastoral Centre, Benin City.

According to Mayaki, “It will cost us so little – in fact, nothing, to vote Godwin/Shaibu ticket but, I believe it would mean a lot to Edo state and Nigeria in general”.

Some do-gooders in New York, had prepared a shocker for him while he was away in Igarra for he termed “personalized door-to-door campaign”, but this birthday surprise-package was dumped on his Facebook page on Sunday, 28th of August 2016 which not only announced the day, it garnered more than 6,000 actions on his website – www.johnmayaki.com, Facebook, twitter, whatsapp, G+, among others – in terms of comments, likes, and shares.

Senator Ehigie Edobor Uzamere was the coolest of them all – he took time away from his crowded schedule to “punch” some well-wish-words to Mayaki – He wished him Happy Birthday! Mayaki cannot thank you enough Distinguished.

Also in the rank-of-earliest-callers was Comrade Hon. Abdul Oroh – Commissioner-Emeritus, and former House of Representatives-man for Owan Federal Constituency.

Honourable Commissioner Kenneth Edebiri would never miss out of any well-wish-list neither Madam Efosa Uyigue nor Mr. Nathaniel Osamede. Madam Victoria Amu took a flight – she provided and presented all the needed condiments for a successful birthday celebration and delivered it on Facebook – it attracted its own “likes and comments” too.

According to her, “I join friends and family to wish and celebrate with you. Your lucidity is magnanimous and this is obvious at work and at home with friends and family. Within your peers in the print media, your intransigent value speaks volumes. You continue to demonstrate great altruism with the humility that is worthy of emulation.

“In this your new year, I pray that God, whom you are serving faithfully, will reward you. He will cause his face to shine on you. He will cause his divine favour to rest on you. He will cause every closed doors to open up for you with double lifting. Your expectations will never be cut off because, from glory to glory is where you will be with unspeakable testimonies in Jesus name”.

One man who had no opportunity to install emergency chieftaincy title on Mayaki was Mr. Ile Theophilus Ikhianose. He said, “If you were Ishan, you would have been crowned with the title of the “Ogbenbe of Edo”, which means the writer of Edo people”. We appreciate you brother.
