The Chairman, Edo State Economic Team, Mr. Godwin Obaseki yesterday, commended President Muhammadu Buhari, for the quality of proposals in the 2016 budget presented to the National Assembly, saying the President’s policy of reaching the socially excluded in the society will help to reduce social tension in the country.

Obaseki who spoke while paying sympathy visit on two victims of gunshot attack receiving medical attention at the Otiwokhai Specialist Hospital, Irrua, particularly pointed at the allocation of the sum of N221.7 Billion for Health, assuring confidence that the effort of the President will soon begin to manifest in all the sector of the economy.

Obaseki said cases of violent attack doubled in the twilight of the last administration due to economic frustration and the social dislocation of the society but expressed confidence that the 2016 budget, as the first major economic policy outing of Mr. President was a practical and realistic way to tackle the challenges confronting the nation.

While donating some undisclosed sums of money to the victims to help reduce their medical burden, he said, “it is sad this is happening after President Muhammadu Buhari took over. We should try and get rid of violence out of our politics.

“Attention will now shift to law enforcement and security but we hope that such a thing will be a thing of the past. As you can see, government is already trying; the fact that we have a facility like this to help victims, is already a plus for government.

“All we need to do is provide a lot more financing for emergency cases, as you have now, so that this sort of surgery could be performed freely for people who find themselves in such situation”, Obaseki explained.
