The Edo State Governor-elect, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has expressed his avowed commitment to the upliftment of the traditional institutions in the state saying, “my loyalty to the Royal family, the Benin tradition and the entire traditional institutions in the state is unalloyed”.
The Governor-elect in a statement issued by his Transition Media Team said, “for guidance and advice, I would be counting on the Oba to succeed as governor”.
In addition, he stated that, “it is particularly auspicious and most heartwarming that the events leading to the Oba’s coronation is coming at a time when I am fortunate to be the elected Governor of the State”.
Besides, the Governor-elect who sees an Edo State with famous cultures and traditions that will be reinvigorated in terms of being the country’s tourism hotspot and become part of the State’s economic growth harnessed to the greater benefit of the people.
In furtherance to this, Obaseki states “I see an Edo state where our people will leave in peace, equanimity and where social justice, equity and fairness shall prevail at all times”.
It would be recalled that Obaseki’s personal and leadership skills are formidable and the electioneering has afforded him an opportunity to return to the basics that have marked his private-public life and also helped him become the first banker to be Governor in Edo State.
According to him, “I am committed to building a better, prosperous and economically sustainable Edo State based on cultural cohesion and ethical values”.
