Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State and the leadership of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) must be pro-active in nipping in the bud, a somewhat political crisis mushrooming as a result of sharing formula for principal offices in the State House of Assembly.
www.Johnmayaki.com feared that a reminiscent of the crisis that consumed the 6th session of the House is already burgeoning and could fragment, at a frightening speed the successes enjoyed by the ruling party in the last election, and therefore weaken the cohesion of the party.
Though the opposition People Democratic Party (PDP) teeters, and seems in total disarray smarting from the defeat suffered in the general election, but except a major intervention, the House (the party and Assembly) may be at each other’s throat soonest and may provoke profound unpleasantness.
No doubt, disaffection in the House of Assembly would have a negative slide on state craft, be it in terms of policy formulations, directions, implementation or execution. It also has the capacity to grind the state to a halt with an adverse effect on governance, economy and politics.
It is the opinions of www.johnmayaki.com that elected members should toe party lines and directives since there are a lot to benefit in the long run, to do otherwise, would be an act of vindictive vandalism on the party.
Besides, positions are never forever. It’s turn by turn. We urge members to be calm and defer to party supremacy in other to chart a common front.
“If it’s not you today, you may be tomorrow.”
For Oshiomhole and the All Progressive Congress (APC), what’s ahead for the polity and governance is on debate, yet real change requires more than just talk. The time is now for decisive and practical actions.
The result must be healthier and its impact must be felt by every part of the system. That’s the future and the change we are excited about and not wrangling.
