Police in Edo recover stolen vehicle, arrest 3 suspects

BENIN-CITY- Police in Edo have recovered a Toyota VENZA jeep snatched at Kaduna state just as three suspects were apprehended in the process.
The recovery and arrest were made at Irrua town, the administrative headquarters of Esan Central local government area of Edo State few days after the vehicle was snatched at gunpoint in Kaduna State.
The suspects were said to have tied up the owner of the jeep, drove to a cemetery in Kaduna as they dumped him to rot away.
Narrating his ordeal, the owner of the vehicle (name withheld by us) said he regained freedom by God’s intervention and self-help.
He said that the hoodlums waylaid him about 10pm and dumped him at a cemetery where he spent the night in agony and torment.
One of the suspects, Musa Bashiru, 29, an Abuja-based welder claimed to have been given the vehicle for sale by his friend in Abuja as he did not know that it was a stolen vehicle.
Though he admitted to have drove the jeep from Abuja alone, he however said he had never been involved in Automobile sale.
The other suspects claimed ignorant of the crime as they were ascertaining Bashiru’s claim of ownership of the jeep when police swooped on them.
The Public Relations Officer, Edo Police Command DSP Stephen Onwochei said Edo State is a hot bed for criminals warning that any criminal who refuses to vacate the state should be prepared to face the full wrath of the law.
Meanwhile, the command has informed candidates who applied for the police Academy post-UTME scheduled for today, Friday, May 29, 2015 that the examination has been postponed to Saturday, June 6, 2015.
A statement endorsed by the Police Command Public Relations Officer DSP Stephen Onwochei and made available to The NIGERIAN OBSERVER in Benin-City added that the postponement is due to the Presidential inauguration as the venue for the examination remains Police Training School, Ogida, Benin-City.car-suspects
