Commissioner of Police, Lagos Command, CP Kayode Aderanti on Tuesday in Lagos hailed the dismantling of all road blocks by the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Egbe Arase, saying it is a welcome development,
Also, Aderanti said that unscrupulous police officers turned it to points of corruption and discomfort to the motoring public. This, according to him defeated the aim of establishing them in the first place.
Aderanti made this known at the commissioning of operational vehicles for highway patrol, which were allocated by the IGP and inauguration of the tactical operations unit.
He said that this feat no doubt will add value to efforts towards ensuring that Lagos State remains safe for businesses and leisure to thrive.
“Some of the operational vehicles being commissioned today (Tuesday) are meant to be used to patrol our highways to fill the gap that may arise with the dismantling of all road blocks in line with the directive of our amiable Inspector-General of Police”.
He added that in place of these and in recognition of best practices the world over, robust motorized patrol along the highways and inner road networks have been activated to fill the expected gap in the visibility of policemen on the roads, which is geared towards ensuring the safety of the people.
