The man who humiliated Oshiomhole’s son in the US

The man who humiliated Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole’s son, Dr. Cyril Oshiomhole in the US, Mr. Dafe Sejebor is under probe over $260m contract.

Some call Dr. Cyril Oshiomhole the poorest among the sons of serving and past Nigerian Governors.

He had a nasty experience last year in the United States of America where he resides with the Head of National Petroleum Investment Management Service (NAPIMS), Mr. Dafe Sejebor over his father’s alleged criticisms of former Minister of Petroleum, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke.

Sejebor is the Group General Manager of NAPIMS, a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

He was said to have granted approval for Esso Exploration (a subsidiary of Exxon Mobil) to award four single source contracts for projects in Exxon Mobil’s Usan Deep water project for $260 million without a tendering process.

The House of Representatives is set to probe the contract worth $260 million awarded by the National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS) without adhering to due process.

The Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, yesterday the lawmakers mandated its committees on Petroleum Resources and Public Procurement to ascertain the level of compliance with due process in the deal which took place on October 13, 2014, February 10, 2015 and April 16, 2015 and report back to the House within 4 weeks for further legislative input.

The resolution by the lower legislative chamber was sequel to a motion entitled “need to investigate the $260 million contract awarded by NAPIMS” sponsored by Babatunde Kolawole (APC: Ondo)

Kolawole alleged that NAPIMS had through three memoranda dated October 13, 2014, February 10, 2015 and April 16, 2015 nominated four companies to execute the contracts in violation of due process and without approval from both the Board of the NNPC and its Group Executive Committee (GEC).

He noted: “There is need for the House to investigate the illegally awarded contract by NAPIMS. To further buttress my point, this contract was awarded by the NNPC without approval, violating due process. Government is continuum and it is expected that the matter is investigated.”

A source said, “last year, a scion of Oshiomhole’s family, Dr. Cyril, who is easily the poorest son of Governors we ever had in Nigeria had a bitter encounter with Dafe Sejebor in the US over his father’s anti-corruption comments bordering on the past administration of President Goodluck Jonathan and Mrs. Diezani.

“We never knew those who had skeletons in their cupboards were jittery over the Governor’s sweeping comments such as Sejebor and as such, could not keep his calm when he verbally attacked Cyril in Texas last year saying, “it’s becoming too much of your father”.

It would be recalled that Governor Oshiomhole exposed series of explosive and secret deals in the Ministry of Petroleum which also attracted reactions and criticisms from those whose shoulders were ruffled and bruised.

“On this occasion, Sejebor used unprintable and derogatory words on his father and also hurled insults on the young man. The transferred aggression almost degenerated but for the intervention of ‘peacemakers’.
