From his cosy and comfortable office, Prince Clem Agba got frustrated and left for Ring Road also known as Oba Ovonranmwen Square, Benin city and offered to be a street sweeper overnight.
Who and what must have caused him this discomfiture? Was he frustrated by the activities of saboteurs who turned the face of Benin city to dumpsite?
His frustration have also been worsened, it was learnt. He was sighted sweeping Ring Road over night but Officials of the Council, whose duty it was to clean up the markets and public places but abdicated responsibilities have threatened to drag the Commissioner and or Edo State Government to court for allegedly usurping or taking over their duties.
At least, Clem has resulted to self help by his singular action of becoming a street sweeper since those council officials looked elsewhere when the city centre was littered.
Recall that the Street sweeping Commissioner had, sometimes last year, led 4 other colleagues to the markets in Benin to enforce laws on street trading.
How he intends to remain on the streets of Benin and enforce cleanliness without court action from local government officials remained to be seen.
However, we appeal to him to resume office and allow the contractors handle the job, as his effort to lead, while others follow is well appreciated not as a result of frustration from office but patriotism.
